I don't give names to my tools; just my dogs.  Wrong mindset  for that sort of thing I suppose.

i don't have any weapons.
i have quite a few pieces of cutlery
and some firearms, but no weapons.
i don't name any of my tools.
they get used pretty hard, and if i got
to where i named any, i might hesitate
to give extra abuse if needed.
i do talk to them on a rare occasion, usually
kinda loud.

I too do not like the term weapon.  Weapon implyes intent to do harm to others.
Now if someone is trying to do harm to me, anything near me will be used as a weapon, bowling pin, bowling ball, lacrosse stick, frying pan, or fire arm.
I own firearms that have multiple purposes, most are primary target guns, and I own too many to name.
but on the Viking theme I guess the Sig P220 Sport could be "Bullseye slayer" or "bowling pin thumper".  Ill let you deside.
I guess I do have a knick name for my Gerber Air Ranger pocket knife.  "Pocket chisle".

I have a 30/378 WBY Mark V Custom Deluxe built in the specialty shop which is called THOR.

The 300 WIN MAG is often called THUNDER but I think that THE BALLROG is more appropriate.

I have a 257 WBY which was often referred to as ROY'S RIFLE, when my Dad was living.

My brothers refer to "Grandpa's Varminter" instead of the actual GEWEHR `98 Mauser with a heavy 22-250 REM barrel. He built it, and many more like it from a crate of 50 mixed surplus military actions he bought after WWII.

Then there is Dad's "School Gun" which is a Single Savage 94 in 12 gauge. He carried it in the Great Depression to
protect his siblings from snakes-n-such, and possibly to get some meat for the Supper pot on the way home from school.

Things have sure changed since then!

I carried weapons for 21 years. Sidearms, batons, knives, pepperspray, shotgun and rifles. Only had one named and it was my 12 ga Mossberg pump. Coworker named it Sara Jane after some cartoon character's gun and it stuck. Never named a knife. But I had a splitting maul that I called all sort of names because the head would not stay put on the handle.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.

My Uncle had a Mossberg 500 he called "Rusty Butt" He would use it for ducks in the swamp.  He would hold it by the barrel and use the but pad in the swamp to find the creek canal in the area the beavers  flooded.  Really sucked to find it by stepping into it and having Cold water ruch over the chest waders.

I like the idea of names...but for the most part i find names like "enfield" and "1911" and "blackhawk" terms of endearment enough  :)

my grandmother had an old single shot 12 gauge. She would tell me to go get the "persuader" and persuade those dogs to git away from those chickens ! Mostly I call my firearms loaded.

I have also been known to talk to a sledge hammer and splitting wedge.

Only i few of my tools/weapons have names.

my Onikiri Musashi  Katana is named Chiyo-chan

my Burmese Dha is call by many names but i call it  the poor warriors sword.  it was handmade and there is no other sword like it in the world as far as i know. I really love this sword because it's was my 1st and it has cut down any target i have put before it. there a song from Kill bill called the The Lonely Shepherd  and everytime i use this sword i think of that song.

If the undead do rise one day this sword will be in my hands killing the undead( i have cut tatami mat substitute with this sword and i know it can at least cut a mans arm off with a Migi Kesa or a downward diagonal cut to the right).

my outdoor life extreme gear pocket knife  is named Santiago from old man and the sea because it a fishing knife.

I don't name knives and I don't have any swords. But my colt SAA was named Luther years ago.  ;)

Don't know why just seemed appropriate at the time.
