I want the same thing that you guys do - less crime. The war on drugs has created exactly the opposite. The more it is escalated the more crime it has created.
I guess I'm just ignorant... please explain how enforcing the law creates more crime.
if you put a person in jail for dealing dope, does it cause more people to want to deal dope?

when I see someone killed by a drunk driver, it doesn't give me the urge to get drunk and drive.

It's been explained ad nauseum in this thread and many others. Enforcing the law does not create more crime, it's the creation of laws that ban items like drugs that creates more crime. As soon as something is banned the black market rates go up creating organized crime that profits in the trillions in the case of drugs. They will literally fight to the death and kill whomever gets in their way to protect their profits. No amount of government laws will remove a problem when billions of dollars are at stake and the demand from American drug users is so high. Look at history, what happened when booze was banned? Did crime go up or down? If banning something was effective then booze would still be illegal.

Last question to ponder, since you and I both agree that gun bans are useless, only affect the law abiding and actually cause violent crime rates to increase rather than decrease why is it that you believe that drug bans do exactly the opposite?

people who claim to be Christian have conformed to the world.
of course crime of all kinds will continue.  but Jesus' commission to the disciple was not "preach the gospel for awhile and if they don't all come around, just give up".

when I meet the Lord, I don't have worry about being spewed from his mouth because I was only lukewarm concerning the sin in this world.

Meth should never be legalized, that stuff is horrible. Have you ever seen what it does to a person in about a years time. The real walking dead. I  dont use drugs but I would agree marajuana should be legalized, but other drugs like Coke, heroin, and meth no way. Talk about destroying the fabric of society,

Walking zombies with very bad teeth !  But for the discussion here, lets just say we did legalize drugs
like meth or crack, because what we are doing now has become as corrupt as the drug trade itself .
But in useing any common sense in doing that , the only way I could see it is to let those who want to
screw themselves up like that do so at their own risk .
But only behind the confines of something remanisant of an old Roman leper colony !
Give them what they want , and let them toot and smoke thier lives away .Problem solved, this way
they would be lucky to live about two more years. You wouldn't have to feed them much, just throw
in a little rot gut whiskey and sit back and watch the carnage and the heart attacks abound !
Why not ? Your caught with that trash you go straight to the nearest colony where you can party
your tail off with your so called friends! You wouldn't need to own anything, most meth heads sell off
everything they own anyway !

Well think about it, they could rape, murder, pillage and steal to hearts content! But only to each other
doing it this way. Then taxpayers like us wouldn't have to foot the bill so much for this insanity .
If drug abuse is a disease, then treat it like a disease. One that once you have it,it can not be cured.

First of all---dopers do colonize---just as gangs colonize.
Meth is a problem that will never go away--and you cannot defeat it--it is as dangerous and destructive as any drug ever to come around.
There are folks who will get into it and that will be their end.
If it were properly labed as a poison--like rat poison is--would that stop some from going to it?
Now you bring Christianity into the conversation--as though a Christian cannot be addicted to Meth. Hogwash. my experience with meth is that from the first toke one is dead. Now, I don't have a solution that is acceptable to A or BE, but the drug itself is the answer to ending itsownself.
Folks--not everybody can be a Christian and I disagree with A &BE that you can legislate into being a Christian.

I was not a Christian when I did dope.   when I became one, I also became a new man which we are supposed to do.  If a person does not become a new man when he/she becomes a Christian, the he/she has taken that name in vain.

I dont have alot of time to read these post and put alot of thought into them. Ive been working alot lately, so forgive me doublebass if I am jumping to another conclusion, but you stated police only react to rapes and murders? I dont know many officers that will stand by and allow a rapist or murder to finish before they intervene, just a thought. Rapes and murders are harder to catch in the act because they only take minutes. Manufacturing drugs is a long process and usually can not be move so they are easier to find.

One more thing, some on here seem to believe the prison system is booked with possesstion offences violators. I dont think Johnny, with his small sack of weed, is taking the place in prison of a rapist or murder. Or are you guys confusing jail with prison, they 2 different animals.

Of course an LEO will stop a murder or rape IF he happens to be there. We all know police can't be everywhere at all times which is why most of us carry concealed. The point I was trying to make is that they cannot prevent murder or rape from happening unless they are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

Drug offenders make up the largest percentage of the federal prison population and one of the largest percentages in state prisons. It may not be Johnny with his small sack of weed but there is still a huge population of non violent drug offenders that fills our prison system.

Jesus Christ was the only one who saved me from abusing drugs and alcohol in my younger years. There wasn't a single law on the books that saved me. I want the same thing that you guys do - less crime. The war on drugs has created exactly the opposite. The more it is escalated the more crime it has created. We have 40 years of data to back up this claim. Insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It's time for a new approach.

Oh, Ok, doublebass, I think I see exactly where you are coming from and I agree with you 100%.

William you are also right, more laws will not help.

That's an odd religion you got there... you think that's Christianity?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

You're welcome to call me a sinner, I have no issue with that since I've yet to meet anybody other than Jesus that is without sin. I do have an issue with your judgement of my relationship with Jesus when you don't even know me. My bible study group is filled with sinners, some are at early stages of battling substance abuse. They sometimes fall off the wagon but their brothers in Christ are there to pick them up and love them and help get them get focused back on Him. For you to say that they have forfeited their Christianity is beyond the pale. For you to say that I have forfeited my Christianity because I have a different opinion on how to reduce drug related crime is also beyond the pale. Luckily I don't need your approval, only His. Hopefully you'll step down off your pedestal someday and realize that it's much better to bring people toward Him rather than away. May you find peace in your journey.

Guys, I haven't seen where Bugeye has mentioned any names . His responses were only presented as a generality in the discussion of the subject. As a born agian Christian, he has only stated his point of view just like the rest of us here have done .
William you are very right, but the problem we see with the colonization of gangs and drug attics is
that they are still in the proximity of the public at large .

And my jest of a leper colony was not to far from what is on its way to becoming the truth. In the scope of what I do, I have seen where entire hotels and ranches have been purchased as minimum
security facility's. For convicted attics to be sent too in order to dry them out.
Repete offenders can find themselves in those places for a very long time, and they are not country
clubs! They resemble something more like an asylum, with an entire battery of drugs that are used
to bring them off of what they are addicted to.

But that isn't all we do, addiction is also a mental dependency. If you have ever witnessed a normal
person smoking meth for the very first time, you would notice they will go into a type of trance.    lasting anywhere from minutes to hours depending on the subject . Users call this a euphoric
experience causing them to want more . What it really is, is that the chemical make up of your brain
body has been altered releasing massive amounts of dopamine into your system .
Thus the sensation of no pain anymore like with older people, along with the accelerated metabolic
rate that your body functions at normally.

Some meth addicts claim that they have this heightened sense of awareness, and can see or understand things that they couldn't before. Well a pot of hot coffee will give you a heightened sense of awareness, but as far as seeing things those usually turn out to be vivid and dangerous hallucinations. Some of my patients have told me they not only saw,but were talking to anything from
space aliens to demons. And as with the males in this group, those creatures can either manifest
themselves as beautiful women, or something from hell itself.

With the females,it's vanity with them. They will abandon their children ,home ,and husband for someone they call a,Connect. Being usually the one who is dealing in this junk.
Guys I have seen where one of these connects, had himself an entire harem of women there only to get
the meth they were craving. Former house wives, mothers, daughters, girlfriends, and they would do
anything for this connect including haveing sex with about anyone in order to get more of what they needed. I have had to contact panicked family's who were desperately looking for a loved one who just
vanished one day for no apparent reason. And I had to tell them that I had her, and that she was in our custody and that she was a meth addict .

And that she would never be the same again, don't even try to go there. Yes I am a Christian,so I know where Bugeye is coming from and why. And I do believe that evil uses this drug as a vehicle
to get what it wants. And that is to destroy the lives of those it wishes to possess.
What Bugeye is saying is, get this garbage off the street and save as many as you can. And Bugeye
in my opinion, that is a very noble and brave thing that you are doing in the name of Christ. It was also why I entered into drug interdiction and crisis management like I did.

Not all people are Christian, or, hold to the same moral judgements.
Matter of fact---I believe this nation was NOT founded by predomantly Christians. As always--some belonged to the church as a crutch and without faith. Others just never believed.
It is the same way today.
So let's leave Christianty out of the equasion.
Yes I think it would solve a lot of the problems of this world---but--how do you propose to effectively provide this salvation---make it a law?
Whenyou deal with folks who are not believers, does not mean that you are dealing with immoral people. When you deal with folks who have no moral compulsion towards illicit sex or homosexuality or killing of the unborn you are now able to see the problem.
All A & BE are telling us that there is a problem---they admit that ever effort, so far, has prevented nothing----the, however; maintain that they refuse to give up the fight.
Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing and keep expecting the results to change.
This world will pass away and the problems will pass with them. What is your plan, in the mean time----I ask again!
Blessings

Do you sin?
Blessings
back before I became a Christian, I was neck deep in it.
I no longer deliberately sin, I even drive under the speed limit, much to the chagrin of a couple of folks here. ;D
all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  when I pray at night, I go back over my day and see if I've done anything to someone to hurt their feelings etc., and if there's anything I need to make right the next day.  and since God knows all, I ask for forgiveness if something slipped by me.

Oh Powderman , they actually believe they are telepathic ! And can receive and transmit messages to
someone like them every bit as good as any transceiver. No this is not a blue tooth,it is their highly
advanced brains that have been elevated to great heights in human evolution by the use of meth !
Well Whoo Hoo ! I guess their wonder drug forgot to do something for their teeth and hygiene as well.
And personally, I don't find walking skeletons who stink all that attractive .

ANNA. I used to see them at walmart, like walking dead, caught 1 doper, probably meth, stuffing baby clothes in his shirt and pants, blood around his face coming from his nose. I was told that is from meth too. Saw several reeking of pot caught shoplifting with kids in tow, anything to support their habit.
Gotta warn ya. Posting too many facts at once gives the libbies a headache, gotta break em in slow. POWDERMAN.  ;) ;)

If dope were legalized, it would indeed save some money, and would make it easier for dopers to get their fix.
How long are we here on earth?  70, or 80, or 90 years.  we don't know, but if we use our imagination, we can kinda, sorta, maybe get an idea of ETERNITY!!!!!

you can sit in a pew every sunday and maybe fool your peers, but God can look right into your heart and know your position on drugs, alcohol, abortion etc.

I thank God that I didn't die in sin.

whoa - facts?!? Aren't you the one who has repeatedly posted that there are no American Muslims, in the face of incontrovertible facts to the contrary? Wassup wit dat?
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Powderman , bleeding from the nose could also be from using cocaine . They cut this stuff with everything from horse tranquilizer to draino .  Draino is a favorite with dealers because it comes in a
crystalline form that closely resembles meth crystals .
Toot a bunch of that up your nose and see how long it is before you start bleeding ! But most meth
users either smoke it or shoot it up. But there are those that snort it also, and I know what you mean by them stealing anything they can get their hands on . Even from their own family, we had one that
had even broke into a Catholic church and stole all the items associated with saying Mass.
He told the police that Mel Gibson made him do it , whatever !

WELL! Old Mel has been on the wrong side a time or two ya know :o
Interesting topic we have going here, and one I would like to see continue, but without the typical Liberal ::) , and other personal touches to the reply s. We all have opinions, and we should respect the opinion of others as well. Some like to give credit to their Christianity for their opinion and some don't, or some do, but don't use it to (Lord ) pardon the pun over others. I would like to see more claims backed with facts! Truth is what it's all about. Anything less is garbage IMO.

Lets see more who are for the war on drugs, show the positive side of the fight.
Those who are against the war on drugs and think it should be De-criminalized....Lets see how it would improve the situation. Those who think we should increase it.... Lets see some Facts....Not a bunch of silly, nonsensical cartoons!
Here is an example.....Perhaps we should be waging war on Big Pharma, and the FDA

Facts like.. Tobacco kills about 390,000
Alcohol kills about 80,000
Sidestream smoke from tobacco kills about 50,000.
Cocaine kills about 2,200.
Heroin kills about 2,000.
Aspirin kills about 2,000.
Marijuana kills 0. There has never been a recorded death due to marijuana at any time in US history.(Let me tell ya folks.......I don't do either, but I know people who do, and I'll share the highway with a pot smoker over a drinker, any day.
All illegal drugs combined kill about 4,500 people per year, or about one percent of the number killed by alcohol and tobacco(One %, and we put people in prison for taking illegal drugs, but ....SHHHH Quiet about Tobacco or Alcohol Tobacco kills more people each year than all of the people killed by all of the illegal drugs in the last century.
Source: NIDA Research Monographs

My thoughts are........Turn all loose who are in prison for just (using) drugs. Not selling Or put everyone who uses Alcohol or tobacco in with them. Don't forget those who sell it.And also...Confiscate their property if found on the person or property. Sounds fair, Don't ya think?

Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

Hunter. Don't see how you could say that there have been no deaths from MJ, I'm sure there have been many. In construction years ago I worked with a couple guys who smoked it on the job. We were 100 ft in the air and rt after they finished a joint 1 of them decided to walk a beam over to the next pour, he stepped right off of it. He didn't fall off, he stepped off of it. His head split like a melon on the concrete below. After that day I refused to work with anybody I knew was smoking that stuff, my life depended on it. POWDERMAN.  :o :o
