Jason,  The .358 Chipshot is a real shooter !  The Indiana deer hunters would love this one, For thoose wondering what is a .358 chipshot, It 's a shortened 35 Whelen  barrel  brass is 1.6" + formed on 445 Super mag cases with a powder capacity a little less than a 35 Rem.  Jason owns the only one we know of ?   ;D ;D ;D

Jason,

I hope the middle man on the 358 CS doesn't pull a 300 AAC/BO and keep pushin' back the delivery date to drive up demand. :o ::) ;D

BTW, "Chipshot" is a trademark of the Profino Gun Company so you might need a new cartridge designation.  I am thinkin' .358 Cheeze Whiz might be available. ;)

358 cheeze whiz got a nice ring to it.  I would hate to infringe on a trademark

What is left? I could see a 500 necked down to a  44 maybe. There just not enough bore sizes/ case combinations. There are 11 in production, right? .204, 224, 243, 257, 270,284, 308, 357, 429,458,500. None of them really need to go to larger cases, The 30/06 based cases are already at the practical max for case capacity in the handi. I would like to have seen a 405 win and the 375 Win in there, as well as a 338 federal, as far as bores go, but there is not a real need or niche to fill. The biggest gap where something usable could be made is between the rimfires and the 357, but you cant shrink a chamber. Just pouring more powder in a case does nothing for me. Unfortunately, it does not look like we are going to have much to work with, at least in the near future.

You could always do a 6.5 Grendel rebore and rechamber from a 22H barrel. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

Thought someone would do a 338-06. It may be too close to the 35. I rebarreled a savage and love that round.

I've had a 338-06 A-Square for a long time, very accurate, just a might heavy for my taste tho, it's a rebored 26" 25-06.
