I use that bullet and am very happy with it, but as with all hollow base bullets, you don't want to overdrive it too hard (fast). A piece of the skirt can break off and lodge in the barrel.
That being said, just do what I did: Go to Hodgdon's website and look up their 45-70 loads. They list 3 levels, all guns, lever guns, and modern high strength guns.
IIRC, I mostly use IMR 4198 and SR4759.

cat sneeze for me in the 45-70 BC, 11.9 grains of unique or 10.7 of 700x, seated into the rifling.  Low and slow. 8)

Trailboss, load 'er up, and use #2 alloy.  Don't size, shoot them as they drop....assuming your bore and mold are like mine.  Mine drops from .458 - .460 dependent on alloy.  All shoot well, as the hollow base will "bump up" to bore readily.  I don't really push these too fast, I use the jacketed for that, but even at 1200 fps, they will stop about anything.

My barrel has the micro groove rifling, And I have struggled alot to find a most accurate load and bullit. So far the Lee 405 is a leader but Ive had to use harder lead alloy. the harder Ive tried the better its shot. the last batch I made are WWM that I water quenched. my best load is only pushing them to 1300 fps. Ive had a couple of shoulder surgerys and anything more is to painful to shoot more than a couple of times. Good luck DR
