Remington Model 760 Firing pin
« on: March 16, 2012, 09:20:32 PM »
Hi,
I recently bought a Remington Model 760 Gamemaster, SN: 147'027; Barrel Mfg Code "ZZ" (like 1951 or '52), which the firing pin just broke on.  I'm trying to find a reliable site to buy this part from, and everything I've found so far has been questionable.  Also, I've heard a lot about a "Firing Pin Spring" for the Model 760 on the retail sites I've been on.  My rifle does not have a spring in the Firing pin assembly, or bolt/ carrier housing.  Does it require one to function, or were the earlier models not manufactured with one?  I haven't fired the rifle yet, but I discovered the pin was broken while practicing with snap caps, loading and unloading the rifle, same as I do with each new rifle I get.  At any rate, l would greatly appreciate links to sites which have reliable parts sales, and some advice on what I should do next with this issue.
Thanks
Chris.

Your ZZ gun wouldn't have had a firing pin spring , or a bolt body / bolt spring either . I have found the firing pins online ( GunBroker ) and keep one in stock . They don't break very often ! They are really quite simple to work on once you're familiar with the different variations of them .

Fantastic!  Thanks, it's kind of difficult to find reputable parts sites these days.  Good to know I don't need one though.
Thanks for the info,
Chris.
