problem with Benelli
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:22:36 AM »
I know after reading this subject matter that tons of benelli owners are looking for my address and will come and flog me, but before you do, it aint what you think. I was on one of the best dove hunts of my life last september and was swatting the doves right out of the sky when I went to pick up a dove in the corn field and noticed a recoil pad. I picked it up and started back. I saw a dove take off so I raised my M2 and fired. Well I got a beating. It was my recoil pad off my benelli M2. I popped it back in and kept on shooting. It fell off again. Anyone else had this experience?

The M2 is my favorite shotgun of all time and I have put a few thousand through it with zero problems to this point. I think I am gonna tape it to assure I dont loose it again. Any other ideas before I put duct tape on a $1,200 shotgun?

I just ordered a replacement for an elderly uncle who lost his fro his M2. The way I understand it, these guns have been infamous for "loosing" their recoil pads. The replacements ARE NOT cheap either! May I suggest putting some clear silicone under the pad, once it dries it will give you extra security, yet still allow you to remove the pad if the need arises to access the stock bolts.

Good idea st8teman.  I taped mine and had to clean the adhesive after removing the tape.  I like your idea better.  I odered the shorter recoil pad for my M-2.  The dealer didn't have the heart to charge me the retail price and said he had to have $50.00 to cover what it cost him to get it.  If I ever lose mine, I'll replace it with a Shooter's Friend slip on pad.
Never said I didn''t know how to use one.

I am amazed to hear I aint the only one that has expeienced this. The shotgun is otherwise flawless. I'll allow it a recoil pad issue. But, I will try the silicone this summer.
