I got a .45 Colt Buffalo Carbine in near perfect condition today !  I don't think it has ever been fired. If it has been fired, it was meticulously cleaned and maintained by its previous owner.

I'm definitely a Handi-holic !  ;D

Congratulations on your new rifle, and you are going to love it!
 
This is probably getting old for some folks to keep hearing about the 45LC, and especially those who don't have one yet.
 
I've had mine to the range about four times now, and twice since I reamed it to .454 Casull, and ever trip it never ceases to amaze me with it's accuracy and just the sheer pleasure it is to shoot.
 
I've worked up two loads, one for the 45LC and one for the Casull and they both group inside an inch at 100 yards.
 
I didn't actually think I could do it, but this last trip made a believer out of me.
 
Same distance, same bullet, same powder, different grains, and both impact within one inch of each other in a 1" group.
 
I smiled all the way home, and you will too.  ;D

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

You'll love it.

The 45 BC carbine was my first 'real' handi, that I got for me.  It started my addiction.  First Handi I reloaded for, and I reamed it to 454 also, even if I only have two dozen brass.  My fun gun, lead bullet shooter.

Fred... your stocks are an inspiration.!

Jimbo47... Be nice to know what your powder and bullet were.  Load data you can't post, I read.  Inquiring minds like to know...

One of my favorite powders, IMR 4227 under a Hornady 300 grain XTP Mag bullet.
 
There are better powders, but I had a lot of it on hand when I got my carbine.
 
My little carbine shoots good with just about anything I feed it, but lighter charges of my powder tend to soot up the outside of the case pretty good, but once you reach the correct load the soot goes away and she shoots clean, with no pressure signs, and I can't argue with the accuracy.
 
I will say I'm using published load data but they are max for the LC.

I tried not to, and even tried a peep, but my old eyes just won't allow it so a nice little Nikon 4 power works great on my carbine.

I put a Millet 1.5-4 X 32 on my 45-70. Nice compact little scope.

They're tough to find nowadays but definitely worth the effort. ;)  Now talk to CW about some of his pet loads for the old warhorse. ;D
