For the record, there will still be a Montana shoot in 2013.

We-Cut  Bank Sportsman's Association, may or may not have the Mile bowling ball shoot in conjunction with the CBCC shoot.  Right now that shoot- Mile bowling ball will probably be in 2014 and will be for bowling ball guns only.

The only event we may have in 2013 is the Mile bowling ball shoot.

We are still in the process of building the new range and are waiting to see if we get a grant from the Friends of NRA to build a covered firing line.

We are also looking at getting a grant for vault toilet...do you  know what one of those thing cost? Wow!!!  They are expensive.

The bowling ball shoot was talked about at the last club meeting again.  The clubs insurance will cover an event anywhere we hold it.  But the Officers would rather see it closer to  Cut Bank than 40 miles away up by South  Paws.    A local farmer was mentioned and I will make contact with him.  If we could work something out him it would be nice.  What would realy be nice if  he had a pond we could shoot at.

For the regular shoot Southpaw has mention putting up a kids wading pool too fire the mortars at.

Where's the change in that...seems like we were doing that any way, last year.

The new firing line  will be about 15 yards further behind from where we fired  last year.

Naw, we were firing east towards the horse pasture.  The airport is to the west.

Aren't "bombs" exploding shells?  Can't use those airplanes or not.  :D

Gun Club meeting tonight.

We learned we got a $10,000 Grant from the NRA to build cement pad for a covered firing line.  We are applying for a Matching grant for  Montana Fish Wildlife and parks.  That should give us $20,000 for the project.

It was mentioned that we will have to shoot the cannons in front of the firing line.  I said that was not a problem.

They past month or two we have had some high winds 70-90 mph at the Airport.  One of the culverts blew away.  When the club president went looking for it he went over the hill down below and east of the range.  He didn't find the culvert.  On the oilfield service road that over the hill and about 600 from the firing line he found a round ball that was he said was about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and made  of real hard lead.

The point again was made, this can not happen--again.

If they run NRA rifle matches, they'll need a spot for the prone position shooting  Perfect spot to make dual-use cannon pads out in front of the line. ;)

No plans for NRA Matches at this time but prone shooting is being planned for  including  leaving  a portion the pad uncovered  There is also room on the ends of the firing line for a grass shooting line.

FYI-I made it a point for the record that a level section in front of the firing line be included in the plans.

Take a look at the Club blog on the range progress.

Instead of a trip to Europe, I bought a house in Arizona.  Slowly moving in.

George,

If you move to Arizona, what am I going to do for steel supply?

Is there a cannon range nearby?

Where in AZ.   Winternational Cannon shoot?

The local club is building a new range about 20 miles from me (about 20 miles closer than the closest range here) and I hope to get well situated with them and see if they would be receptive to a cannon shoot.  We will see.

It would be about 350 miles from LA versus 1350 to Cut Bank.

I would go to AZ for a winter  Cannon shoot.

I am a bit concerned as to whether we could hold anything but a small cannon shoot on the new Cut bank range.  We will have only half the firing line width there as we had the last time..

And, I suppose, we still have the horses and the horse owner on the other side of the downrange berm.

Yep, still there.  But the back berm is very different and taller...we won't b rolling a cannon balls up the back slope now.
