Never cared too much for Newt on the whole...but...I can't find this in the article you posted...
He said he had extra-marital sex because he loves America.
Maybe you posted the wrong link...? Read the article...didn't find the above statement anywhere.
( Newt Gingrich says his passion for his country contributed to his marital infidelity. ) I think this statement is what he's referring to. It is a lame excuse!
I was never big on Newt, but for different reasons as well. He is a big CFR, New world order supporter. I have no use for any of them! Be they Republican or Democrat.
