223 neck size or not?
« on: February 16, 2011, 03:45:29 AM »
Another question that has probably been beat to death.
I have a 10" and 14" contender barrels. Is it ok to neck size? Both seem to want to shoot diff loads but I figure if I neck size them the same it would be easier than lubing and full length sizing. I do keep them separate now so that's not a problem.

thanks

Vietnam Vets may be eligible for medical care and disability compensation. Contact the VA if you have prostate cancer or type 2 diabetes. Finally got around to going to the VA.

I say "no". Even though both barrels are chambered for the same cartridge, chances are that they were done with different reamers thus having slightly different dimensions. A neck sized case would only fit in the barrel that it was previuosly fired in.

Please disregard my previous post. I thought you were asking if neck sized would fit either barrel. Neck size will be fine as long as you keep the brass separated.
