Barrel swap question
« on: January 31, 2011, 04:40:46 PM »
This past weekend I bought my second 45 Colt carbine. Today just for the heck of it I swapped barrels between the two and they fit just fine locked up good and snug. I entend to have at least one new barrel fitted to one of the receivers. My question is if the factory 45 barrels interchange is there any reason to think the accessory barrel  won't do the same? Thanks Tom

A spare 223 barrel fit my new (year old Ultra) 308 just fine.
However it did not fit a NW 2006 used receiver I bought from a fellow GB member  :'(
So I just shipped that poor receiver in recently for a few barrel friends 357mag Talo and 35Rem

I'm waiting on an email now from the folks at H&R customer sevice to see if the 18 3/4 " 357 barrels are available. At first the gentleman said that they were only due to manufacture some, then after I mentioned the barrels had been discussed here on GBO he emailed Mother Remington for more info. I hope I get a positive reply. He did say the 35 Remington was unavailable. OK, just got my email from the senior consumer rep @ Remington , the 18 3/4" 357 is not available at this time and may or may not be in the future. Not sure what to do next.

I mailed mine in and got lucky on the 35 Rem barrel.  I would trust what Brian has said on here.  I would not believe anything I was told on the phone by Remington.  Its sad that this is the way it is.  I can't believe this is how a business runs.  I am very happy with the 35 Rem barrel I received.
