This is like a "Twighlight Zone" episode. I still can't believe there's no paint on that bed. This may all be an elaborate hoax. :) ;D :D

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

      That's a very fine looking mortar, Douglas.  Mike and I would be proud to own one of those!  As for inletting the breech end, you have excellent results for your efforts, what more could anyone ask for?  I have not inletted a mortar breech yet, but I remember the fun and the blisters from a 30-40 Krag I did.  That big 5-shot rotary magazine was a 'B' .

     I'm sure there are some youngsters in Maryland that will be thrilled with your work!

Fired three shots to test this mortar this morning.  200 grs of Fg tossed the cement  filled pop can 120 yards.  This Mortar  also makes good  crack when fired.

The thing about this  mortar that stand out is that it is a nice size for one person operation.  Not to small to appear toy like but not so big as to give you aback ache setting up.

For those who seem to not understand correct detail the  Confederate pattern 24  PDR Coehorn was not painted, it was linseed oil treated...I "painted" myself into the corner over paint and wouldn't miss such detail... :P ;D
