State being a little less restrictive finally
« on: July 31, 2010, 09:08:43 AM »
Got an e-mail last night from Alaska State Department Of Natural Resourses.  They are going to allow me to use my track rig again to go hunting in my old spot.  They had closed the trail due to trail damage done by big tired rigs (Monster Trucks).  Our tracked rigs are so light they don't leave anything but cleat marks in the mud after passing.  Any trees or brush we drive over and mash down, is standing back up the next day just like it was before we drove over it.  Funny how a two or three inch spruce tree growing in Tundra can be driven over by a 10 ton rig, yet so little ground pressure is placed on the tree it will stand back up straight within 24 hours.  The only evidence I passed that way will be cleat marks going up the tree's trunk.

Environmental groups don't like it, but at least we are getting our old freedoms back.

Thought you guys might be interested in seeing real Alaska transportation.                                   Oh and can't forget the little rig.

Glad you can use your hunting rig.
But some how I have a problem with you saying "More Liberal".
Liberal Does not equal  Freedom.
It may have 25 years ago but the current liberals are all about power and lack of choice.
Do as they say, not as they do.
Look at John Kerry.
He says the rich need to pay more taxes, buy American, and the rich toys are killing the planet.
He buys a yacht (rich toy) not made in America, and parks it in the next state to avoid taxes.
All the envormental groups are liberal.
The Sierra club tossed the Boy scouts out of a park and made them clean up after one of their parties.
The trash all over was criminal.  You think the tree huggers could use a trash can.

OK mcwoodduck, how is that, I got rid of the liberal phrase.  I should have said less restrictive anyway.  They are loosening the restrictions.

Just like when you were a kid: You say a bad word and get scolded   :o  :D

BTW, the new thread title is more accurate  ;)

I remember years back reading an article on guys biking to hunting locations. Your rig is the exact opposite!  That's a cool looking rig that most of us would never need......but wish we did    :)

Much better.
Did not mean to scold you but I really dislike the word liberal.
Oh nice rigs.

Down here in the Miss mud people had 2wd trucks then army jeeps then 3 wheelers then 4wd trucks and big tires then 4 wheelers then 4 wheelers with super tread tires. Each progression lead to a better road being torn up and up graded and rules against the use of the previous vehicle,(by the clubs)l.

If tracks, which solved all practical mud problems in the rice fields wont work, You probably need to wait on enough water to float a boat (or a freez for sleds in your case which you already know}. Glad you can use your enviorenmentally safe ride to go hunting.  Ane thank you to the state for showing some smarts.
