Bear attack
« on: July 29, 2010, 01:05:51 PM »
Bear attack leaves one dead and 2 injured in the Soda Butte Campground out side of Cooke City.  The man killed was about a quarter-mile away from the camp sites where the other 2 were injured.  A woman was bitten on the arm, and a man in an other campsite was bitten on the calf.  Both were treated and released in Cody Wyo. Not sure if it was a black bear or Grizzly at this time, or if more than one was involved in the attack.  DP

Sounds like they caught the grizzly sow and 2 of the 3 cubs they think is responsible for the attack.  Will do testing to make sure, then I'm sure will destroy the animals.  DP

There is a reason they post those "don't feed the bears" signs.  Even the blacks are losing fear of humans.  In the Smokie Mtn. nat. park one year I watched a group of people with cameras literally chasing a sow with cubs up an incline trying to get a close up.  It's a wonder they didn't get an extreme close up! ???

We had a guy chasing a moose one time in my neighborhood with a camera, I yelled at him to STOP.  He said, he wanted to get a better picture.  I told him that cow moose will make him tomorrows headlines with his death.  His look was priceless.  ::)

News flash; People are NOT the top of the food chain! The bear just found some people tacos wrapped in bags and did what came naturally to it not a thing wrong with that bear. However there is something wrong with thinking a predator should not eat you just because you are a human. They do not need to be "provoked" just hungry and a easy meal is presented. I did notice however that no mention was made that maybe allowing firearms in the park was a good idea.

Wasn't in the park.  The sow has been put down, sounds like the 3 cubs are gonna be part of the Billings Zoo.  News said the cubs were malnurished, still had their winter coat.  Not sure I agree with "top of the food chain" statement.  There are human predators too, if they kill for their own reason, they should be let go because it's natural for them?????  The right thing was done with the sow, she found out human meat is easy to get.  Not sure about the cubs, hope they didn't learn from momma to good, could be trouble for a zoo keeper.  DP
