Well, it's time to mill some of it...
Usually when i saw out a load of logs, i try to load the tops, so i can get to them first.  I saw the tops into "cribbing" so i have something to sit the lumber on, that i'm about to saw out of the bottom logs.  Anyway, here's what i got out of the first tops and also out of the first good log on the mill,
I need a bunch of 3x8-16's, so that's what i'm aiming for out of the logs that are long enough...  Here's the lumber out of the third log,
Now with those out of the way, i got to a bigger log, that should make some "nice" lumber,
And got started taking 5/4 boards off it,
And, it did produce some of the nicest wide boards i've seen in a while,
So, i put them up on the mill and edged them...  You can also see the sawdust pile behind the mill...  It looks like a LOT of sawdust there,
But, it's not really all sawdust!  It's a LOT of snow, with the sawdust insulateing it from the mid 70* weather we have been having,
Anyway, as i was sawing, all of a sudden a bat came by and was flying all around.  I watched it for a few, and it landed on the side of a near by tree,
I guess it didn't care that it was the middle of the day...  lol  I checked later, and it was gone...
  So, with the boards edged,
I still had a beam lieing there to take care of, so i made made the cuts through it.
and here's the lumber i got from that log,
And with one more log milled,
here's the tally for all of the logs i milled from that load "so far",
In a couple days, i'll finish off the load, and get started on "another" load of pine i just traded for...
