Leading problem??
« on: November 15, 2003, 09:18:23 AM »
Hello I have a Colt Mk IV series 80 with a compensated Clark barrel.   When I bought the gun from a guy it had some lead build up in the compensator which I cleaned out, but I have noticed that since that first cleaning it has slowly built back up to the point where I had to clean it again the other day.  Is this something that is normal or is there something I should be doing differently?
Thanks for any information and advice that you can give me.

Don

The sharp edges of a compensator tend to shave a tiny bit of lead from each round fired. It's perfectly normal for lead to build up in the comp vents.  If you use jacketed ammo, you will see copper build up the same way.
