couple of questions about contender grips and barrels
« on: January 31, 2010, 02:53:22 PM »
hello all,

First question which of the Pachmar grips are the most comfortable to shoot? second one, is there a significant loss of velocity with a 14" barrel with a break over a standard 14" barrel

thanks

carl

I like the decelerator grips for heavy recoiling handguns.

A brake will cost some velocity.  In effect it shortens the barrel by the distance from the end to the holes.  In most cases velocity loss will not be the biggest negative.  The noise and blast is.

I prefer the Griper style Pachmyer's while some of my shootin' buddies with big mits say they prefer the Presentation style.  I know the Decelerator grips are available in the griper style and I agree that they help with the big kickers...don't know if the Presentation style was made in the Decelerator series.

A BIG +1 on the noise and blast.

The Presentation style were not offered in the Decelerator series.

I too only use the Decelerator Grippers (when Pachy's are mounted) and have several sets of them.   Sold all the Presentation style grips I had many years ago.

Gripper grips are favored by majority of Contender shooters with normal hands.  Those with mits prefer the larger presentation grip.

No noticable loss in velocity from muzzle break.
