It occurred to me that I have darn near all the guns I want.   :-\  I know that to be true since my eyes don't glaze over anymore when I look at the classifieds.    ::)

I still have a few projects going on, my M7 in 250 Savage for example, and I'd like a few odds and ends such as a '74 Sharps and a Ruger #1, but basically I've got more toys then time...  :(  Seems like there are more interesting cart-a-ges left out there then rifle-guns.

Which brings me to the great thing about Handi's!  I want to play with a new cartridge, buy a barrel like I did with the 25-06!   8)

Bad thing is, they don't make barrels in the real interesting stuff.  Like 25-20 or 32-20.  Or 30-40 or 303 British.  Or,  :P or 50-140 Sharps!   :o

All this talk about rechambering to 450 NE and shooting eli-fants with the 500 S&W just got my poor brain a chernin like I got snakes in my head!   :-[

Bad thing is the 500 S&W is a true 50 cal and the big 50's seem to run around .510 - .513.   :-\

If'n yer bored, now that you've become used to real winter, put on yer fur lined jock n come up here and help me shoot weasels around the chicken coop.  .45-70.....there's a weasel.....boom.......where'd he go????.......OH!!.....all over da place ;D ;D ;D  Ifn ya just wing em, ya gotta have da second shot der or yer in deep trouble.  Der aint nottin like a ticked off weasel.  Oh yeah, I just got one this morning.  Rat trap baited with a scrap of venion. ???

Somehow, looking in the crystal ball, I see a .500 Handi in the near future.  There weren't any elephants or Cape Buffs there though....just some more weasels.

Richard,  send a 45-70 BC barrel into Wayne and have him rebore and chamber it to 50-140, then you can work on that bad boy for a while to keep you outa trouble, the wait is gonna be horrific tho!!  ;D

There, there Richard.  You have just discovered the winter doldrums. :'(  That is why so many of us in the cold north have to many toys. ;D  To much time to set and stew. :-\  Just to rub it in a bit, :D it's to hot to go rabbit hunting today, got 44 F right now, had to take my coat off while out side with the dogs. 8)  Ya get much bigger than a 50-140 and you can call it a garage.  ::) ;D ;D  DP

I just picked up another BC today in as new condition for $289.00 out the door.
Serial HX.
On the way home I was telling my buddy that I may save up some extra money and send it to Wayne to be done in 50-140.
He is trying to talk me into only doing a 50-70.
A lot cheaper BUT! ?

It's another of Ed Hubels creations. I haven't built one and don't know much about it. Go up to Big Bores and look at the 12FH thread. Ed mentions it there.

It's impossible to keep up with the things he comes up. He is the most creative wildcatter I've ever had any contact with.

His 16FH is looking real tempting too. A little flatter trajectory than the 12.

A man of your several abilities should never be bored.  What with all that eddication, and all them toys and murdercycles and such.  You just need to go shoot some possum's with Tyler, with that 45-120 and you will feel better.  And while you are out, you can stop by the candy store and just....look around a bit..... ;D

The bullet speed isn't important Joe. Those will be extremely effective but not because of the bullet. The healthy dose of 2400 is what makes them work. He says he gets a huge muzzle flash and that's what kills. The bullet just opens the skin so the fire can get in :o
