Although I do not own one (yet), I think the 7mm-08 handi rifle must be the ultimate combination of caliber, ballistics and ease of handling/shooting with light recoil, amazing ballistics and knockdown power combined with astounding accuracy in the Handi rifle as it is . Perhaps the .270 would be second best....milder recoil than the 06 and almost as much killing power and flat trajectory......wow, I just talked myself into yet another handi rifle caliber!!!!

If you're going to have problems with a Handi it will be with a rimless cartridge.

Since my rifle is sited in to be dead on at 400 yards, and still with limits at 500, I consider anything over 500 yards to be long range.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Under 100 yards   (I have several stands) I usually shoot this set up with a 7.62x39 w/t  sub-sonic hand loads   100 to 300 I use my 308 with 180 grain .  Got this one last year one shot and he dropped in his tracks.   ;DPlus noone knew I was there.

In reference to the .243.  I had a Rem model seven in 6mm.  It killed a lot of deer, but most not DRT.  I traded it for a Ruger M77 MKII in .308 and ended the tracking and dragging.  Today, my Handi .45-70 is my favorite deer rifle.....and I've got lots.  Shot placement is the most important component in humanely killing a deer.  A well placed shot with the 6mm would have a deer run anywhere up to 200 yards and die.  The same shot with the .45-70 knocks them over and they don't get up.  Bigger is better in my opinion.  Of course, I'm a lazy old fart that avoids any kind of work.

The closest to a suppressed gun I 've fired on game is a Supre Colibri from a 22" Savage 7 at a squirrel. The report of it hitting the squirrel is louder than the sound of the shot. Tells you right away if you hit or not.
If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!

Its legal in Arkansas to use any legal weapon.  You can use full auto if you are willing.  My buddy killed a nice deer last year with his post sample mp5 with a suppressor. The can is one of his. Red Jacket firearms.

I hunt tree rats with a suppressed 10/22.

I have killed deer with the 2 H&Rs with a can and the SBR AK. I just had the milled folder built and plan on knocking out a deer with it this year.   The supperssed 10/22 has killed a dump truck load of tree rats. ;D
