I have a Savage model 23 sporter. I can't remember if it's a B, or C, and it's not marked on the gun. It simply says Savage Sporter on top of the barrel. It is a .25-20, and in very good shape. The bore is shiny smooth and it is quite accurate.
It has patent dates on the top of the barrel of- NOV 28 1906, Sep 7 1915, Sep 4 1917, Nov 20 1917.
The serial is on the right side of the receiver between the ejection port and bolt handle. It reads-936XX
The magazine says 25/20, 32/20. That is all of the writing on the entire gun.
Tha magazine is rounded at the bottom slighty, and has stippling on the bottom 1/2" on each side.
I called Savage, and they were of no help.
I would appreciate any help here.
