I suggest you read the history of the early Roman and Greek empires.  Wasn’t immigration and failure to assimilate one of the major contributing causes to their failure?

The failure of the Greek empire was that they were conquered by the Romans.

As for the Romans themselves, the major cause of their failure was conquering too much territory to control.  The combined retaliation from those conquered peoples, particularly the Germanic tribes to the North, eventually wore down at them.  Indeed their attempts to force their views, religion, politics, etc on those newly conquered territories, rather than  adapting to the local cultures, resulted in a great deal of the unrest.

As for the language, one school district here in the great state of Texas has to teach is 17 different languages, why should I as a tax payer have to bear the burden of educating these children when their parents have no desire to learn our language?

Bottom line, there ain’t no such thing as a free ride as you advocate.

Why should I as a taxpayer with no children have to pay for ANYONE's kids to learn anything?  Because we as a nation of decided that it's better that our populace be educated.  Whatever language they speak, educated people are a good thing.  The majority of those kids coming through the system will learn English anyways.  The simple fact is as long as you fall back into an "us vs them" mentality, you will always be able to find fault with any group.  We need to become a little more accepting.  To many pro-gun groups these days have just devloved into hateful people.  Go down the list in any of the off-topic groups and it reads like "The mexicans and why we don't like them" - "The muslims and why we don't like them" - "The blacks and why we don't like them" - "The liberals and why we don't like them" - "The french and why we don't like them".  We as a group spend more time sitting around talking about all the people that we don't like (and various half-cocked ideas on how to "git rid of em") then we do of finding ways to try and live with people.  And the root cause is that too many of our number don't really want to get along with any other groups.  What's different scares them. 

That attitude and strategy is the path towards extinction though.  You want gun ownership to grow out of the niche that it's become?  Don't be as closed off.  Make friends with some other groups.  Talk to the them like equals and offer to take them shooting.  As long as we keep pointing fingers we're going to stay stuck in our rut.

I know it's an unpopular opinion here, but personally I just have little problems with the Mexicans here.  Our country was made up from immigrants coming over, and when most of our ancestors came over there wasn't all this paperwork.  You showed up, you signed up, and you were an American citizen (for those that even had to do that - further back it was less).  And we certainly didn't come over and drop our language to start speaking Cherokee.

Their are places all over this country that will send money back to Mexico. These are honest companies that make money sending money
any where you want. If this money being sent to foregn countries was taxed about 50% you would see less of these honest hard workers here
sending money home. Try sending money OUT of mexico. You can think what you want but they do not pay any taxes other than sales tax.
As for SS# they will just come up with an other, all the ones that i know of have so many dependants that they pay no taxes. Every time our
Comptroller says your SS# is no good they come back to her with another.

I don't know where MCMORDEN is from but he surly does not have to deal with
illegal mexicans on a daily basis, they want this country and what it has to offer
but want it to be  just like mexico, tell me how that works. Go to mexico
and try to do what they do here and see what happens.

The other problem we have with the illegals is some moron officials have desided their city is a safe heavan for illegals.
and they have had a huge increase in DUI, rape, theft, and drugs.  Turning a nice working class town into a sewer.  Driving real estate prices down and killing the tax base for the city. To do good things.  The illegal side walk businesses are not paying sales, income, or other taxes.  But they are using all of the services that the taxes are to pay for.
Santa Anna, CA had to suspend the DUI check points because all they were doing was catching Illegals Drunk, no insurance, no license (not even Mexican) and no registration on the car.  And being a safe heaven they were not going to impound the vehicle like they should they let them go.  how is that for a miss application of the law.  Now if you have a CA license, Insurance and a registered car they then will cite you for speeding and other if they catch you.
How is that for complete backwards of the 14th amendment "laws will be evenly applied".

If that was pointed at me, then reread my first post! I said if we could send one african back for each mexican that comes here, we would not have the welfare problem we have now! I backed that up with the experience I have had with both ethnic groups to show how I came to that conclusion. Maybe only the harder working mexicans make it all the way to minnesota, I don't know.

You're right McMorden.  We should try to find ways to live with people.  Who cares if those people break our laws to come here?  Who cares if they spit on our country by working here, not paying taxes, sending that money back to a foreign country, and flying a foreign flag on American soil?  I mean, it's not like their own country doesn't want them.  Ohhhh, wait a second.  Their own country doesn't want them.  But, we should welcome them with open arms (while they sneak across our borders like an invasion force).  You know, you need to strengthen your resolve and your argument.  Why limit it to mexicans?  I mean there are plenty of guys on here that want to blame other groups for all sorts of things.  Did you know, that there are many here that want to blame murders on those that commit murder, or rapes on those that commit rapes.  My god, what kind of bigotry is that?
