My son will carry his Rem. 700 BDL in 243.

I was just thinking today...there are alot of coyotes where I will be hunting in Texas.  I have a 243 also.  Maybe I would buy one of those electronic calls, use varmint loads in the .243, and try coyote hunting.

Gonna use my latest, a Bryant Custom .250 Ackley Improved with a Weaver Grand Slam 4.75x.

Jim,

It's a Mcmillan synthetic Mountain Rifle Stock, marbled finish, 80% dark red, 20% black.  I wanted something not too flashy, but wanted to get away from the "tactical rifle" look.

I LIKE the way you think

Killin rooters is where it's at, nothing even comes close. You gotta hit em, and hit em hard. Even then, they come back to life, and dirt mean.

Coug,

Aint that the truth.  They say that cats got 9 lives, but I swear that hogs got more :)   At least when the cats come back, they don't got the devil in their eyes.

Yea, African PHs will tell you that the .375H&H is for cape buffalo, but then again, if the PHs ever hunted big hogs in the US, then they would clarify the .375's use for Cape Buffalo AND US HOGS! :)

For this coming deer season I will use my A-bolt .243 and bring my .270 along as a backup rifle.

If it were me, and I live in south texas and know a little about those tanks you speak of, I would carry a good sidearm like a Ruger P97 .45 ACP. I own one and won't go out in the brush witout it. It is probably the best .45 I've ever shot. You get 8 tries really quickly.
