Got it in my head to build a trench gun after the WWII style. Anybody got any suggestions?

They started building them using '97 Winchesters. You can buy them again as repros are being made for the CAS players. I'm not sure how reliable they are though. Also the originals are made for  2 1/2" shells not 2 3/4.

What were you going to use as a platform?

Guess I was thinking more the Model 12 version, wood furniture, heat shield, bayonet lug, green sling. I'm thinking of taking a Chinese copy and replacing the plastic with wood, but I don't know which would have a bayonet lug.

If you look around you should be able to buy the parts you're looking for. Frankly I could see where for home defense a bayonet lug might be a mental advantage for the user and an attention getter for anyone looking at the wrong end.

I'm not sure what value a heat shield would be, seems to me it would be something that would snag of things.

I know I've seen the parts to do this with an 870.
