Good shooting Montanan.  Doug, hope ya have a good trip and sell what ya need to.  Cold and rainy today except for about 3 hours it warmed and quit raining.  It's just not getting enough water out of the sky.  It needs to get with the program and give us a ground soaker!  Sound like we may see some over-night snow this weekend.  90 last week and chance of snow this week. :D  It just don't get any better than this. ;D  DP

Evening all.

Catching up on domestic duties and helping the wife get ready for her yard sale tomorrow.  Since the weather report went sour on her  she asked for 1/2 the garage.  I had to move stuff out of her way and them move stuff out to the garage for her.

This afternoon I worked on a friends 10-22.  His trigger has been sticking and he had a round fire with the bolt partially open. I took the gun apart and found the typical sludge these guns get filled with.  If you spray a liquid lubricant into the bolt of a 10/22 it will attract dirt and debris.  It will also mix with the carbon from firing.  As long as you are shooting the gun regularly you normally won't have problems. Let the gun sit over the winter and this sludge can turn to a hard gummy varnish.   The gun may function but it can also gum up everything including binding the striker forward or not allowing the extractor to snap over the rim.  I have seen marks on case heads from these conditions.  Either one can dent the rim deep enough to discharge the cartridge before the bolt is closed.

If you have a 10-22 here is the proper lubrication.  Spry dry lube into the action on the recoil rod and allong the inner roof and sde walls.  Function the action a fe time and brush out the excess dry lube.  That's it.
