Rem 700 cdl in 264 wm- special run
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:50:30 AM »
I have one of the special run 264 win mag in a 700 cdl. Its a great gun I just hope I draw an eastern OR antelope tag to really use this gun for what it is meant for.  Mine likes 130 nosler AB's and 140 partions, w/ ramshot Magnum powder. it didn't like hornady 129grn, nosler 120 bt's, or privpartizan 139's. didn't really like rl25 or 7828 powders.   just wondering if anyone knows anything about this model like how many were made or other details.  mine is blued with a really nice peice of wood, better the the regular model 700 cdl.  The only thing I dont like is one dear season the covering over the plastic pistol grip cap and blk foreend peice is chipping off.
I have attached the rem website that talkes about the gun.

I bought this as a B-day present for myself in  Jan. '08.  needed a 6.5 to mark the 20 yr anniversary of taking my first buck with a 6.5 carcano.

Congradulations... the .264 Win Mag is one of my favorite long range calibers.  Ive got one in a Sako Finnbear that is an absolute tack driver.  Its one of the few guns I will never trade or sell.  I really like the looks of the CDL model Remington, plus it comes with a 26" bbl which will make a .264 mag come alive.

Enjoy your new weapon.

I'm surprised these .264 CDL's are still listed on Remington's webpage, maybe there are still a few around for sale.  These were made 2 years ago, I believe.  I have a .264 CDL SF that I haven't fired yet.  I'm still shooting an old .264 700 Classic that I bought new back when.  It IS a tackdriver, and I don't mind the 24" barrel on it either.  It is so accurate, I don't worry about the fact that I might be losing a little velocity.   ;D

:) Todd, what speeds do you get out of your loads??? There are a couple of these still floating around Wy........ I really don't need a .264, but it was one of my favorites. :(

I don't have a chrono so I don't really know.  some day I just hope to draw a lope tag....someday until then I think I will use it this year for blacktails.

Is this a necked down 300 Win. Mag. Case to a 6.5? If so that would vave to be one very fast round. :o ;D I like it. Dale

No, it is same length as 7RM & 338WM & shorter than 300WM.
