What the heck was the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection thinking when it released 315 cow/calf elk tags to thin out the "Homesteader elk" which have taken up year round residence on local ranches?
My problem is with the way the tags were dispersed!!!
Guys camped out overnight for three days to grab the tags, that were handed out
five per person! on a first come, first served basis!!!
No effort was made to record hunter numbers of those who got tags, so one guy could shoot five elk himself with few problems!
So.....37 guys walked off with 315 cow/calf tags!!! Including 2 from out of Province!!!!!!! And the Ministry has no records of who holds any of those tags!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!All of this is 100% true!!!! Why the heck couldn't they just give those addtional tags out by limited entry draw?

Why not just declare a weekend where
anyone can shoot any elk anytime!!!!!
