45-70 BC Price
«
on:

Deal or not...New BC 45-70. Asking $390 down now to $360. I would like to pick one up and add .357, 12 gauge with chokes and maybe a 30-30 barrels. Will this work and is it a good price?
Thanks,
Smiley

Sounds a bit high to me. Over the weekend a local shop had one for $299 new in the box. If your local to Connecticut or wanna take a ride, shoot me a PM and I'll get you in contact with them!!
The also had a very nice SB2 357 mag that almost came home with me!! If it wasn't for the 6 bricks of primers and 8lbs of powder, It certainly would have!!

Wow, I didn't realize those were in that price range. I looked at them years ago but quit. I must have been in the wrong store, because I thought those were in the 400 - 500 range. I don't think just over 300 bucks would be a bad deal for one.

The regular price at Sportsman's Warehouse is $369.99, RR has 39 of them in stock for $359 each.

Can those handle +P loads or is it all the trapdoor stuff.

They'll handle Ruger loads if you can, but the recoil will keep most shooters in upper trapdoor or levergun levels, without a recoil pad, the steel butt plate isn't user friendly with heavy loads. The BC uses the same SB2 frame as comes on the Handi/Ultra which is chambered in .500 S&W which has a bigger case head and operates at or above Ruger level pressures.

No, I chickened out when I priced the ammo at $36/box. I just wanted to play.
I'm thinking starting out with lighter caliber say, 30-30, .223 or ideally, .357.
