I currently own two .25-20s, one a "new" Marlin 1894CL, the other a BF handgun with 15" barrel. The Marlin shoots groups in the 1.5-2 moa range scoped, but the BF will shoot aggregates in the .6s and .7s. One big difference is the bullets used - the Marlin shoots the flat-pointed 60, 75 and 86-grained bullets which were never intended for high accuracy. The BF shoots best with 75-grain V-Max or 87-grain TNT bullets, both of which have reputations as highly accurate bullets. Another difference is the BF having a minimum chamber versus the larger chamber in the repeater.
Actually I had intended to build a high accuracy .25-20
rifle, but the BF came up and I've been very pleased with it.
