Parts order from NEF
« on: September 16, 2008, 11:08:44 AM »
Received a parts order from NEF , ordered by phone on Sept. 9 and received today!  8-days is pretty good in my book. I ordered a Buffalo rifle receiver sight and  a plain wooden stock and forend for a Sportser .22mag.The receiver sight is really nice for the price ($18.55), made by Williams no less.I don't know how long they can keep selling these at this price.

The forend they sent is not the plain one I ordered but the fancy walnut one for the Buffalo Classic rifle, but they did charge me the plain price ($16.50).I put it on and it either looks cool or stupid depending on your point of view.I think it looks cool and I'm keeping it. The buttstock is not correct either, I ordered a plain rifle stock with buttplate. They sent a very nice hardwood stock that has a circular stamping on the side (2.375 dia.) and a recoil pad.
The stamping says "Whitetails Unlimited " and has a buck outline in the center.Anyone know anything about this stock? Does it have any collector's value? I might try to return it and get the BCR stock instead.Does the BCR stock come with the steel buttplate or would I need to order it seperately? Thanks!

Sounds like they didn't do too good on getting the products you ordered except for the WGRS which has been $18 for at least 2 or 3 yrs now. Did you order the stock parts by part numbers or just description?

Considering they got the part numbers all messed up, you actually did good getting a checkered walnut BC forend!!  ;) The inventory must have got all messed up when it was packed and shipped from Gardner, and them not being familiar with the products you got what they thought was right!!! ::)

To tell you the truth my friend I am a bit surprised you are keeping the more expensive forearm without discussing it with them. If you did speak to them about it they might tell you to keep it instead of them incurring the cost of return shipping and sending you a new cheap forearm. I have my own personal feelings about keeping something more expensive they sent to you in error, without at the least discussing it with them. But in the end we all have to live with ourselves....<><....:(

Do you know how long it took me to get a hold of these people just to place an order? Why do you think I come on here and ask questions of you guys instead of calling them direct ? I had to get the part numbers off this website.Your right we all have to live with ourselves.Get any free donuts lately?

No, I don't normally eat donuts but I pay for everything I order and recieve. The old NEF/H&R once sent me some extra items in error and I called them and paid them the extra money. I guess you can rationalize you way out of it if you want, after all, it is your life. As I first said, "in the end we all have to live with ourselves". Just remember, if you have children, they look to your actions to determine what is honest and right. Attack me about donuts if you want and it it makes you feel better, my bill is paid. What you did does not shock me at all, that you would talk about it an an open forum does....<><....:(

P.S. - added info: I see you are a fairly new member here. I appears that there is simply a different set of rules that we each live by. Do not take this as a personal attack on you for it is not meant that way, it is merely a statement of life values...

With CS in one state and the parts in another this mix up does not suppries me in the least . SJB , you may want to give them a call , I know that it can be a pain but they may very well send you a BCR but stock for your troubles or at least send you a matching stock set .

As for the BCR butt stock does come with a metal plate , some have reported that the wood to metal fit is not always the greatest so you may have to adjust it once you get it .

Please don't take MSP's comments wrong , he does try to do as we all should , besides that if you let them know about the mix up , it helps the next guy get his order right , if they don't know about a problem - they can't fix it .  ;)

Who knows , they may even send you one of their nice colored Lam sets as a Thank You .

I called them today, I called the Remington 800 number on the packing slip. I told the CSR that I had  receieved the wrong parts and gave her the order number. I had ordered a plain rifle stock with a buttplate and they sent me some sort of commemorative stock (actually a very nice stock that had a "Whitetails Unlimited"logo on it ) with a recoil pad. And for the sake of the children MSP, I also told her I received the wrong forend. I ordered a plain forend which they charged me for ($16.50) but they had sent a more expensive BCR walnut forend and what did she want me to do about that . She asked me for the part numbers on my slip then put me on hold. 10 minutes later she came back and sternly  said "Sir, we sent you exactly what you ordered, all those part numbers are correct". I told her of course there correct but that doesn't mean what they  sent me is correct. After a few minutes of haggling she  put me on hold again. 25 minutes later I realize we've been disconnected and I've been holding a dead phone to my ear. I called back at least 12 times through out the day and was  on hold from 5 to 20 minutes each time. I finally got through this afternoon to a different CSR, and I think (hope) everything is  straightened out.      Now will I ever do business with these people again ? Absolutely, I like their firearms, but I think I'll try to do it through the mail. Way to much aggravation over the phone.

Unfortunately they're probably just as frustrated since they don't have a clue about H&R firearms and the product line, their Retail Parts Price list has no pics and doesn't list all the parts either, so what they're working with may not be sufficient for them to learn what they need to know to get us the right parts all the time. The Gardner staff had been working with the products for years and knew what was what, unfortunately, the new staff doesn't have that experience and very few if any employees transferred to Madison or Ilion.  :-\

Brownell's sells a lot of their products, so that's where I place my orders unless it's something that I can't get from them, like extractor parts. Even for orders I placed at Gardner, I had some problems, but usually with getting them shipped to the right address, only once did they ship the wrong item. Brownell's always got me the right part and in just a few days, they charge a little more, but not enough to make a difference to me when I know I'll get what I ordered, and soon. ;)

Just a thought, but you guys (Tim especially) have either answered my dumb questions in the forum or on the F.A.Q. and provide better customer service then I've experienced with them ! Maybe you guys should be getting a commission from NEF ?

There have been holes in the system for a few years but nothing like this , maybe one of us could get a job down there as a Consultent just to baby step them through this change over .

First thing they need to do is give CS a 3 ring binder with Pics & part numbers to match .  ;)
