Bought a Glock G36
« on: July 03, 2008, 10:24:36 AM »
I finally broke down and went plastic for a pistol appropriate to use with my new CPL.  My hands are so small that when I grip the gun with the magazine in, all my fingers have a place to rest.  Other than shooting it, do I need to do anything else to make sure that it's broke in?  Glocks are new to me as I usually shoot a Beretta M92 or a 1911. I bought the Fobus paddle holster made for the G36 to go with it.  Is this pistol in "stock" configuration OK for shooting +P ammo in?  Any advice is appreciated.

I've had one for several years now, and carry it in a Fobus holster when my clothing attire allows. Mine is completely stock, and I keep thinking I should upgrade the sights. I'd get an extra magazine or two though. Haven't shot any +P ammo, don't see the need to in a .45, but thats just me. Enjoy your 36.

Have had a 36 for some years now. Although it still has the wide slide, the single stack grip does make it a little easier to conceal than the mdl 30. No failures or malfunctions of any kind. About the only "Must Have" mod for a Glock is the sights. The plastic stock sights are way too fragile for use in the real world. I have the old "PT" night sights on mine. I don't see any problem with +P ammo in it. If you are wealthy enough to afford that stuff by the case, you'd most likely bought something other than the Glock to shoot it in! :D

The Glock 36 is a great gun for carry at 22.5 oz. I have tried all kinds of 230 grain ammo in mine. For a gun as light as the 36 I have settled on standard velocity 230's. I save the +P loads for my S&W 45 acp revolver.

My first range session with it was quite a success. I fed it Wolf FMJ, UMC FMJ and WWB 230gr HP.  All functioned flawlessly.  I was expecting much more recoil than their was. It was more than my all steel 1911 but easily manageable.  Now to find the "perfect" holster to carry it concealed in.  ;D

When I carry mine, I use my Glock 19 holsters. No shortage of those around.

I've been carrying my 36 for about a year now - great gun to carry and shoot.  A friend recommended getting a Sidearmor IWB holster and I'd recommend the same.  The holster is the best "plastic" holster that I've used.  I also swapped the factory sights for a set of Heine Slantpro's, not the tritiums, just regular sights.

I've added XS sight systems Big Dot sights to it. They are great for speed shooting at silhouette targets! That big front sight is easy to keep track of. So far I've put about 150 rounds thru it. It shoots great, a little snappy on the recoil, but manageable. It has been a great carry gun.

I like the trijicon night sites on mine.  Also, I carry mine in a Smart Carry holster.  It was recommended by a buddy and I really like it.

Over the years I have tried about a dozen holsters for my 21. The one I like the best is the Fobus paddle holster. I was going to suggest the night sights of some kind, so I'm glad you got the Big Dot. You made a wise choice in guns.
