Idea for a new hunting rig
« on: June 30, 2008, 03:03:15 PM »
Well, with the gas prices going through the roof, i am looking to sell my truck (I use it for everything, work, shuttling the kids, hunting), it has 147,000 miles and is starting to get tired. i have several options; get another truck and suck it up or get a ..gulp... a car, but i have an idea to still have a hunting rig. Has anyone seen an old military truck called a Pinzguaer? You can google it and see them. they basically can go anywhere! and are pretty cheap to buy. i am looking to get one and make it kind of a "off-road" camper, with room for all my hunting stuff. Just an idea... maybe even put a jumping jack trailer on top of the bed, i could take off the wheels and mount it... hmmmmm
What does everyone do for a hunting rig? i would love to see some photos!!!

Those things AREN'T cheap and you still have to have a daily driver. An old Cherokee would be much cheaper and more useful day to day.

Myself even though I own 2 Jeeps XJ and a YJ I find myself using my $700 95 Pontiac Trans Sport for more and more of my outdoors activities. Sleeps a lot better to. ;D With some taller than stock A/T tires you'd be surprised how many places a FWD minivan can go.
