Stoeger shotguns quality

I have seen an ad for a Stoeger 3000 o/u shotgun in the Dick's Sporting Goods flyer.  I wanted to ask how this shotgun compares in quality a Remington or Winchester shotgun.   Any input is appreciated.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a Stoeger Shotgun.   A friend of mine bought one and it stopped working after a couple hundred rounds (wouldn't fire the second barrel).  Either Remington or Winchester would be a better choice, and Beretta and Browning would be better yet.   When it comes to Over/Unders, you pretty much get what you pay for.   If you are looking for something low cost and reliable, go with a Browning BPS, Remington 870 or Remington 1100.   I have never come across a "new" low cost reliable over/under.   However, you should be able to pick up a used Browning Citori with interchangable chokes for under $1000.

I have a stoeger condor and I've shot the @#$%^% out of it. Never had any problems.

I have a good friend who bought a Stoeger SXS couch gun and right out of the box it had trigger problems. He had the trigger problem fixed and now loves the gun.

When discussing the Stoeger products it is important to remember that Stoeger is an importer of product from different manufacturers.  My SxS is made in South America.  I dont know where the 3000 is made.

I picked up a Stoeger (Condor) from Dicks a few years back.  It's not a bad gun FOR THE PRICE. The 3000 is just an "upgraded Condor". They are pretty "blocky feeling", but it's doesn't look TOO terribly bad, for th price. They shoot and function well...it's just hard to get over the feel once you've handled something a little more streamlined. 2 dove seasons ago, I pulled out my Stoeger....and put it right back in the safe when I remembered I had something better behind it.

If you want a more decently priced over-and-under, take a look at Yildiz.  They are made in Turkey and I LOVE mine. They are a little hard to find sometimes, but Academy sells them for about $375-$400. I would trade 5 Stoegers for just 1 Yildiz.

I have a stoeger O/U  condor also,about 250 rounds through it with no problems.  :)

I received a Condor 8 years ago when I graduated from College.  It felt like it was carved from a 4x4.  The internals look like they were made by a blind man riding a horse.  After some major reshaping of the stock to a thin English grip, it swings and carries well weighing in at 6 pounds (20 gauge).  The internals got some attention from a polishing stone and now it functions well.  Basically, it is an OK gun but not something that will last generations.
