The Ranger gets an estimated 15 city and 20 highway and this is with a 4cly. The F150 gets the same millage with a Trition V8.

 The ranger v6 is an outdated pig of an engine

a 4cy 5 speed ranger is EPA rated at 21/26

 a new 4cyl 5 speed Toyota is EPA rated at 20 city 25hwy

the same nissan is rated at 19/23

the colorado is 18/24

 a F-150 with a 5.4 is rated at a paltry 13/17
with a v6 stick you get a very frugal 14/20 ::)

I know the ragers we have are work are little gas hogs. We used to run S-10s for meter reader trucks and when they quit making them they switched to rangers and i was told there average fuel economy was about 20 percent less then the s 10s they had before. Problem is the new chev colorados dont do much better then the Rangers. Kind of strange that in small trucks the gas milage seems to be worse then it was 10 years ago not better. The exact opposite seems to be the case with full sized trucks as all the manufactures have big trucks that get better miilage then they did 10 years ago. Cars arent much different. I listened to paul harvey the other day on the radio talking about just that. He mentioned that none of the hybrid cars that you have to pay a high premium for get better milage then a 20 year old chevy chevette.

I was just at the Ford Dealer ship and thats not what it said. The 4cly had 19city and 22highway the 6 cly was less. The Triton V8 has 15city and 20 highway. So If I were to choose I would go full size.

 sounds like your dealership is trying to pull a fast one to convince people to buy a more expensive gas hog. ::) imagine that ::) My figures quoted above came straight from the Energy Department's webpage.

I drove 4cly Ranger for years and it got the same fuel milage as my Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diseal. I would listen to what everyone says about fuel mileage because they haven't improved any at all. My Ranger was a 1991 and I drove it until 2005. No use in arguing over this. Even others have said their V8's got about 20mpg and that's not too bad compared to what the little Ranger gets. ???

I know ive had two silverados both with a v8 and air that got over 20 and before that i had a dakota with a v6  sitck and no air and it would only get about 18 and maybe 20 if you drove it 55 and who does that. I dont think that dealer is blowing smoke at all. I KNOW YOUR NOT GOING TO GET 20mpg in a v6 ranger. the work trucks we have are lucky to get 15.
