I have a 336 in .30-30 that I bought in 1970--I believe that its called a centennial model--has a medallian in the butt stock, and a gold trigger. It shoots 1 inch groups all day long at 100yards--no difference with either 170 or 150 grain loads. The 150 shoots 1 inch higher than the 170's, but still 1 inch groups. Every deer I have taken with it have been one shot kills--it does a beautiful job.

I don't know if any of you Marlin collectors are interested but my friend has a 1920's vintage take down in his shop in 32-40.  It is in really good shape.  He is in Corona, CA but is willing to send it to your favorite FFL for you to pick up.
If interested give him a call.

39A from 1977 and a 336RC in .35 Remington from 1966. Wish there were more. Some day a 1895GS in 45/70.

Here are a couple of pictures of mine.

Slightly modified 1895GS-

A slightly modified 1895 LTD-V-

And an 1894Coboy LTD .44 Magnum next to my .44 SBH and Marbles Woodcraft.

My wife and I took up Cowboy Action Shooting a little over a year ago and so we have added to our Marlin inventory.

She shoots a .32 Magnum Cowboy, I shot the .44 Cowboy above and a 1894 CBC .38. I just got a 1894 CL .25-20 a couple of weeks ago. And I bought a .410 lever gun a couple of years ago. I like Marlins alot.

Wow, I really like that CB with the tang sights. The 1895G is nice too. I have one in the blued version with Wild West trigger, bear proof ejector and aluminum follower along with a one piece firing pin. This by far is my favorite bear rifle and it's a real pleasure to shoot. You have a real nice collection.

Thanks!

My GS has had the mag tube replaced with a longer one, WWG trigger and Bear Proof Ejector, The stock has been refinished with Watco Danish oil, a LimbSaver recoil pad was added as well as a mercury tube in the stock. The sights are by XS. I made a stainless cross bolt safety replacement.

And the dovetails have been filled in the barrel where the original sight and the old magazine tube hanger were.

It is a riot to shoot. I would like to get a one piece firing pin and a aluminum magazine follower too. I love that little GS.

That's sharp!!!!! My is pretty well decked out like yours with the XS sights along with a Leupold 2.5 scout scope and an XS mount with Leupold QR rings. I'm still thinking about a large loop lever from WWG, but can't make up my mind. Nice job on the magazine, can't even tell.

Thanks! I like the idea of the bigger levers but after shooting CAS I don't like the idea so much anymore. The They would take longer to open (micro seconds I know). I have given them some serious though and almost ordered one from David Clay.

Thanks again for the kind words. Once the snow is gone off my deck I will get some shots of the other Marlins.

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to say I have 17 Marlins, but then I probably do have the advantage of years.  My favorite still has to be my 444S.  It's been restocked with fancy wood and is just a joy to carry in the woods.

I've posted this picture on other forums, but the lighting isn't good and it doesn't do the stock justice.  That's a 5 shot 200 yard target hanging behind it.

I guess I'll have to learn to use a camera one of these days.  Here's another taken outdoors.

Hey Jay:

Can you get more than one extra round in the tube?  I am looking at extending my 444s Shorty's Tube (the Barrel was Customized to 18")?

That GS really looks sharp!

I wasn't going to mention my lever action Rossi or the Mossberg.  The original question was about Marlins.  ;)

Thanks Ron,

It holds two extra now. I have to admitt that I like this GS alot but I think that my LTD-V is a nicer gun. I shot it at our state sass match and took first place in one of the long range, rifle cartridge, side matches. This was the first time I had it out. That was a hoot!

Hot Dang Jay:

You pushed me over the edge...  Traded a really nice Double Gun and picked up my new (to me) GS...

Gonna put on a Ghost Ring, WWG set front & Rear, Scout Mount/Scope...

Other suggestions solicited!!!

Welcome to Club GS!

I would start with a Limbsaver recoil pad, nice ghost ring sights and a WWG Happy Trigger. That would be a good start.
