307 Winchester
« on: June 27, 2003, 03:26:59 PM »
Just picked up a Winchester 94 in .370 with 5 boxes of factory ammo, put a Leupold 1x4 on it. Makes a neat, light, fairly powerful (for deer) handy little rifle. Anyone have any experience hunting with a 307 ? I like hunting with levers as most of my hunting is Adirondack mountains or on my land which is almost the same, short shots, sometimes quickley. good day all, jay

The 307Win is on par with the 30/40 Krag,300 Savage,303 British and 308win.I like the 150gr Hornady RN at 2505fps and the 180grRN at 2400fps.I not a fan of the 170gr 30/30 bullets in the 307Win.But some swear by them, just like the 300Savage it struggles with the heavier bullets.

What hurts it compared to the others,is they all come with longer than 20in barrel(for better velocity, energy and down range ballistics) and use sptizers. They also shine with heavier bullets which the 307Win and 300Savage can not.30/40 Krag 220gr 2200fps,308win 200gr 2400fps,303 Brit 215gr 2235fps.No one even lists anything over 180grs for the 300Sav or 307win!
