I can't say which is best, but I can tell you what I have done. I live in an area where lessons aren't an option, so I'm limited to books or video. I went with the video and I like that because you can see the movement and proper casting in action. . I started with a Mel Kreiger video, and he does a pretty decent job instructing, especially with my type of fishing. He isn't one of the strict "10 to 2" guys and seems to emphasize adjusting your cast to meet your current fishing situation. It teaches a roll cast, standard casting, the double haul and another one that I don't really recall right now. There are a lot of good videos out there, and I'm sure there are guys who can recommend others as well. Just remember to have fun with it.
