F.A. Grip to Trigger Gueard Distance

I own a Model 97 and it is a beautiful well made gun. I do wish there was a little more room between the front of the grip strap and the rear of the trigger guard. My hands are average size but in most grips my knuckle is against the rear of the trigger guard. This is not a major problem but I just don't like the feel of cold metal on my knuckle - just the grip and the trigger.
For those that own both a 97 and the 83 how much more space is there on the 83 between the front of the grip and the rear of the trigger guard? My next FA will probably be an 83 and an extra 1/4" + of grip space would be nice for me. I haven't handled an 83 in some time and don't recall the grip size and spacing.

Unclear to me just where you're looking for a measurement to be taken. But from a point on the grip even with the grip screw hole directly to the trigger guard mine measures 1.5". Since both trigger guard and grip frame are angled where you take a measurement is gonna change what the measurement is.

Bob,
As Graybeard says, it depends where you measure from and to, but there is a fairly significant difference in the size of the grip and the space between grip and trigger guard on an 83 vs. a 97.
