We ended up with two doves this morning.  Ended up coming back early so we can make the Sooner game tonight.

Didn't even hear the honk of a goose.    >:(   Hopefully we will try again Monday.

well, it was a bad early season for us here. I only got 1 goose this year. Our regular season will start up soon though and more geese are showing up now. perhaps the second part will be better..... ???   ;)

Gooser - Sorry for the bad season.  If it makes you feel better, you shot one more than me.  :'(

The good news is Teal season starts Saturday ;D.

Specklebelly,...I always end up with a bunch...........whether its the regular season or what.....so  I'm not none to upset by this. What we learned was that the geese are starting to arrive here,we will be ready and waiting for them come regular goose season. we'll get some action yet... :)
My season results are never drawn  on the amount of geese taken.....but the fun and camaraderie that we had through the season. This is what hunting is all about.
If I should reflect on past hunts, the best one I ever had was with my oldest brother when we tried to sneak up on some in a field,we called the field STACKS,.....I had a 20ga. then, limited yes,but only by heart....we did good........... :D
I think...a successful hunt is not the game you get......but the memories you have of it.

Gooser - I agree, good point.

Teal season started and I missed opening day thanks to Delta Airlines.  A business trip was delayed to "maintenance" so I didn't get home until Sat.

We took a week off from church and went Sunday.  Saw two flights, the first one had about nine teal and scared the heck out of us as they flew by at about 185 MPH.  They were close enough but gone before we saw them.

The second flight was two teal that came into land in my decoys.  Six shells (two of us) later they were leaving the scene laughing at us.  Obviously my shooting is a little off from last year.

I am going to work late Friday to try again.  Will hunt until 8:00 and head to work.

Our Teal Season opened last Saturday and it opened at just thew right time. The Birds were thick and stupid. We killed a 3 man Likit in 10 min on Saturday. Since then, they have slowed a little. But it is warm. we should have a front this week

Tunaman - What part of the country are you in?

I didn't go Friday like I planned.  I was too busy staring at the back of my eyelids and didn't make it to the lake.  I did take off tomorrow and will try again.

I am in SE La. I have been hunting in Venice and Buras. The teal were not here this morning but the Pintail are already getting thick. We tend to have a huge amount of pintail down here. Most of us actually consider them a curse as you can only shoot one a day. That is probably hard for some to believe, but it is true.

That is interesting.  I see pintail quite often here in central Oklahoma but always pass on shooting them.  I always pass because of their population issues but it appears they don't have them in your area.

They sure are pretty birds.

we see a very limited amount of pintail here, but I have taken a few in the past years. Our duck season opens Oct. 6th and we are ready for what it brings us.Good luck to all.  ;)
