I need wheels like that on my Samurai.  This rig is Russian, probably used in Siberia, or on the Northern Tundra.

I've never seen a Tahoe with a front diff that big.
At least not stock.
Besides the H2 is just a 3/4 ton Chevy truck underneath.

The h2 is on a TAHOE frame , ( A CHEVY TRUCK FOR SURE ) ! at least thats what the dealer said ! i would buy a DODGE POWER WAGON before i would a Tahoe or H2 H1 or H3 for that matter .
the H1 in the military can follow a tank , and H2 on the other hand fends for itself , why would a truck used for off road need to be wide and limit where it can go ?
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Wouldn't take the gift of a Hummer.  Thy're simply re-bodied Chevys.  As for the original Hummer, I've seen them get stuck where they shouldn't have.  Nope, I'll simply take my Wrangler.  get's me whereever i'll ever need to venture.  If not a Jeep (a real Jeep not a soccer mom model) I'd take a Unimog.
Member, big wide tires aren't always best.  They give floatation and don't always get down to the traction areas of the ground.

The h2 is on a TAHOE frame

If it is a Tahoe then why does it have 8 bolt axles and a 8600# gvwr
the Tahoe has 6 bolt and 7300# gvwr

like on the 3/4 ton Suburban ?
so they up graded the axles , they sure aren't H-1 hardware are they ? Then that might be better since the H-1's are made to break , that's why they carry 3 extra on board , its a safety feature not a cut on my part !
sort of a sheep in wolf's clothing if you will ! Hey people have been buying street cars that are made to look like race cars for years its ok !
and the market for the H-1 is not as big as the H-2 knock off !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Well I happen to think the h2 in neat because its like a 3/4 Tahoe with a 6.0, better styling,
and doesn't have that cheesy IRS and 6.5 the H1 has.

How much tougher do you think your power wagon would be than a 3/4 suburban?

well you asked , the power wagon is built for heavy duty work application , the Tahoe for towing and not as hard off road use . i base that on the fact that power companies use the power wagon for line work ( off road ) , surveyors used to use the tahoe/suburban for their work but most have switched to pick up trucks , i only know a few but they said the newer ones just didn't do well off road not enough ground clearance ( GC )!
that being said i had a Tahoe it was good on the beach but not as good off road in mud or trails as my dodge GC , it dragged alot ! towing i have used both and a suburban also , a 4 door pick up ( and i have had 5 ) will out tow any Tahoe / suburban made , one was a Chevy and it would out tow the Tahoe ,
your ? is not fair for the Tahoe , you are taking a vehicle made for a different job and asking it to compare to a work truck , the Tahoe is a smoother ride , maybe safer in a crash , better mileage , the dodge has 456. gears would pull the hinges off the gates of hell but won't pass a gas station ! the dodge is made to haul loads over rough ground and has more GC and 33 inch tires from factory ! now the power wagon has front and rear locking diff's and anyone with a clue will tell ya that a vehicle with that and more GC will out preform one with out off road ! did you know the power wagon comes with a factory winch installed , the switch on the dash is labeled H-2 recovery ! ( couldn't resist )
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Personally, now that I've had a chance to ride in one... I'd take a UNIMOG over just about any other for rough work.  You won't make any time on the highway, but it's crazy capable off road.  Even an old 404 with something like 100hp will tow many tons. Up to 20 speed gear boxes and nearly 24 inches of ground clearance!  Just Saturday afternoon I saw in Stuttgart one with the railroad gear hooked up to FOUR regular railroad flat-bed cars loaded with ties and it was cruising down the track. I have NO IDEA how many tons that would be!!!
On the other hand I've had several 3/4 ton pickups (all Chevy) and six different Suburbans.  The Burb's tow good but not as good as the 3/4 ton's.  Different gear ratio's.  Best suburban I've had is the '89.  Still solid and handles the off road stuff much better than the '99, '03 or '05 models.  The newer models handle much better on the road and are much faster and quieter than the older ones but that's no surprise huh?  I wouldn't even think about the Sub's for really hard core off road type work.  Much too low to the ground and too much overhang on both ends.  In our pastures, they do okay but I know where I can't go.  Even my wife's '05 1/2 ton Burb with the 5.3 liter pulls strong enough for almost anything most of us will do.  I pulled my 16' 4 horse bumper pull (steel) with three full sized quarter horses, tack and feed from Oklahoma to Kentucky at highway speeds with no problem at all.  Also had four adult sized folks and two younger ones plus luggage in the truck.  Figure total package at about 12,000 lbs.  It also cruises well here in Germany at 90-95 mph on the autobahn, won't go any faster the governer kicks in... that bites.
