You didn't mention if they were stick tang or full tang types. Stick tangs are, to me anyway harder to make. For a couple of on-line sources of information, try Texas Knifemakers Supply at
www.texasknife.com. Enter, and then click on "projects and news". There's also links there to the CKD(Custom Knife Directory) tutorials and forum pages. The CKD forums, which are my favorite place to go on the web when it comes to knifemaking, have not only some possibly helpful tutorials, but some forums for new guys, such as the Newbie's Arena and the Kit Knife Forum. Actually they're good places for even more experienced makers to learn a new trick or two.
If you want to get a book that covers the basics of knife and sheath making, try David Boye's Step-By-Step Knifemaking. Easy to read, and not too expensive. Easiest way to learn, of course, is to find someone local who knows how to make knives and watch them do it.
Most knifemakers are happy to help someone new. Hope some of this helps.
