When I installed the base I filled underneath with epoxy with a little black dye from an old glass bedding kit. Much more solid, but still a very sucky set-up for an so-called top of the line rifle. If you do decide to use the dual dove tail ste-up , you can buy rings with an off-set, just look at the burris web site. I think it is 1/2 inch. I tried last week to mount a 6X16 scope on my 22-250. Because of the funky scope mounting system, I ran out of elevation before I could get to zero, guess I'll have to buy more rings, the Burris posi-line ones with the plastic shims. These guns are highly over-rated, especially for accuracy. I could have had two good shooting rifles for the money I've sunk into a mediocre one and an extra barrel.
