current barrel turn-around time
« on: April 20, 2007, 04:28:15 PM »
H&R notes that having a new barrel fitted can take 6-8 weeks during high volume times.  What has been recent turn-around times?

I know that this time can depend on the barrel ordered, mine is a .223 bull barrel.

Thanks,
Roudy

Was 10 weeks until recently, 7 weeks was one report not long ago, mine's been there 5 weeks now for a 444 and 45 Colt barrels.

Quick. You know you cheated a few days ago when you made a post as to the time of when you could expect your new 444 barrel. ::)

Whatever they are shipping/will be shipping Monday is coming 29 days after they received it in Gardner Mass.  So 29 days in house plus transit.

Last barrel was 28 days total turnaround time INCLUDING shipping to and fro.  I don't think that HR and UPS will ever beat that one.

28 days after they rec'd my frame it was on it's way back. . .actually,  STILL on it's way back to Calif.  I should get it Wed/Thurs.  Not bad considering they didn't have the new batch of 357 bbl's  in house yet.  The other bbl was in stock.  I may have to keep this particular gun from looking like a 'rat-gun'  like my short 45-70.  I talked to two gents at the range yesterday that each had a 3 1/2 week wait (to ship-out) on their 223's two month's ago. ( 22" bull).  Don't know about  the longer bbl.

BTW, they had both found loads giving sub-moa's.  One guy with 45 grs to do P-Dogs, the other was 69 grs for some long range gongs.  ( 1-9) ..  The guy with the 69 grs said he had to be at max to get the sub-moa's . . case life was going to be really, really short he said.  Yuk.  I'd do the 55 grs at that point, being a cheap bas'tid at heart.

Hopefully for your sake you'll get it in half that.  I was initially told 8-10 weeks also.

From all the good things I've read about H&R's Customer Service I hope they believe in the concept of "under promising and over delivering".  Under promising and over delivering builds the perception of outstanding customer service.

On the other hand, perhaps God is just teaching me another lesson in patience! (which I really do need)

FYI...Just found out this morning that my receiver and new barrel, .223 24" bull, was shipped on April 19th, should be at my door tomorrow.  I sent the receiver on March 16th so door-to-door time for this barrel will be 39 days (5 1/2 weeks).

I'm going to be so excited tonight that I'm not going to be able to sleep!
