ejector question
« on: January 28, 2007, 06:54:32 PM »
I have read a few posts but have not seen this specific question.  I have a .223 synthetic handi in stainless with a 22" barrel.  I was introduced to the handi by my brother and his sportster in .17hmr.  His rifle really ejects the shell out after firing, where as mine just pulls the shell out a quarter inch and I just remove it by hand.  Is this normal?  It does not pull out hard and the spent shells do not stick in any way.  Is there something I should do?  Can I increase the pressure of the ejector?  I was kind of thinking that the gun shoots fantastic and I haven't had to do anything with it or to it, so why not leave it alone?  Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Nope...you probably have an extractor barrel...Look in the FAQ's and you can see the differences between the different models..

You have a newer extractor barrel, ALL H&R/NEFs will eventually have them, the ejectors are being discontinued if H&R follows thru with their plan, shotguns are next followed by rimfires. Read the FAQs on the different types, pics included.

Thanks. I must have just missed that in the FAQ section.  I actually like the extractor setup because I can keep my deck a little cleaner and just stick the empty brass back in the boxes to save it.  I just wanted to make sure it was normal.  It is an '06 so that must be the case.
