Encore in 22-250
« on: December 08, 2006, 09:43:33 AM »
Hey all...A few weeks ago I bought a new SS Encore frame with RT stock and fore arm. Just yesterday I recieved my used PH barrel in 22-250. I didnt have my new scope yet so I just threw on a shotgun scope I had because I was so eager to shoot. The few times I shot it seemed to shoot pretty good, sighted in easy. The shells I got were Hornady 40gr V-max molys and Winchester 50gr ballistic slivertips. The gun will be used mainly for varmits, are these shells a good choice? I probably wont be reloading but if anyone has found what works best for them let me know. Also how do the cheap UMC shells shoot? These 20 dollar a box shells are kinda high for plinking.

I forgot to add that one complaint I have with the PH barrel is that it sort of locks the shells into place. With heavy gloves on I cant even get the shell out. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

If your PH shoots good , change gloves. LOL

I mostlly use fingerless gloves, myself. I have never really had this as a problem. Other than cutting at least one finger out, I'm no help.

good luck, DM
