Basically, the Huntsman can be fitted with shotgun barrels unless it's a combo and is transferred as a modern firearm on a 4473, the Sidekick is only a muzzleloader, can only be fitted with a Sidekick barrel and no 4473 is required.

So the HUNTSMAN can be fitted for shotgun barrels.  But you said, "unless it is in a combo," so then it can be fitted for a rifle barrel?

Yes, one of the Huntsman combos comes with a .243 barrel, the frame on it would be an SB2 rifle frame.

So, an extra rifle barrel could only be fitted to a Huntsman receiver if it originally came as part of a rifle combo? That stinks...

I drove through one of the WMA here locally this weekend, and was amazed at the number of hunters out with the smoke poles.  I have not had a BP rifle in many years, but it looks like I am leaning towards buying another one just to get into the woods more often.
The Handi Rifle looks like a winner, with the BP barrel and .243 rifle combo.

I  believe they both do.  I know the Huntsman does and I'm pretty sure the SIDEKICK does also.

Basically the Sidekick IS a huntsman that is slightly modified to work with a different receiver so it can be sold as a muzzleloader only and not be subject to all the regulations that aplly to  a modern firearm.  Therefore, a Sidekick can be sold mail order and without needing to fill out federal forms and such.

Functionally, I dont' think there is any difference between them at all.
