.243 Win Superlight
« on: October 11, 2006, 02:34:48 PM »
I have been thinking about getting a new nef in the superlight .243 win.  I was wondering if anyone has any good loads for deer in this gun and caliber. I do handload so i can fine tune the loads. What is the superlights twist rate and will it stabilize  100 grn bullets? Also if anyone has any pet loads for the .243 win let me know. just looking for some reviews/opinions on ths superlight model nef.

I bought mine 4 years ago.I shoot 100Gr. Remington green box right off the shelf and get 1-1/2"groups at 100 yards. It does not like a clean barrel. The first shot is high so I only wipe it out until the end of the deer season.I really like the little rifle.

Hi Masterblaster,
I have one of these little guns, fantastic with a bit of tuning - bedded the forend around the forend screw, my handload that suits my gun is: Bullet 95gr Hornady sst, just of the lands, adi 2217 powder, Winchester large rifle primers and will consistanly group 3 shots 1-1.5", same deal as Stan, always hunt with a fouled barrel,
Regards Howard.

If you look here, you'll see ADI 2217 is equivalent to H1000.  Probably the same powder, since ADI makes a lot of Hodgdon's powders.
