Model 60-15 questions
« on: September 24, 2006, 07:56:25 PM »
I just bought a model 60-15 j-frame in .357 with a 3 inch barrel.  I have been told by people that they are not designed to be shot alot.  I did not think anything of it, so I went to the range tonight and shot about 2oo rounds of target loads in .38 special.  After shooting I noticed when I got home to clean it that the cylinder does not spin freely like it did before.  I wanted to know if it might just have grit in it, or did it somehow get damaged from shooting that many rounds in it.  It still spins, but it has some drag to it.  I am new to revolvers and am not sure if there is problems.   I wanted to know before I try and shoot full house .357 loads thru it.  Thanks for any help.  Also if anyone has any suggestions for bear protection factory ammo and also personal protection I would appreciate any advise I could get.

Mine has been shot a lot. Before I got it I had the .38 Special version as did two of my friends, we all shot them a LOT. I'd not worry personally about firing the .38s in yours, I don't think it will wear out any time soon from that. I shoot only full magnum loads in mine but don't shoot it nearly as much now as I used to. Still it has had a lot of ammo thru it.

I think you just need to clean and lube the gun and it should be back to full service again afterward.

Thanks,  I thought that it would be fine, I just did not want to ruin anything.
