Does anyone own one of these? How much do they cost and how strong are they. What I meen by that is can they take at least a Marlin lever load.Dave.

My brother had one he bought it at a gun show used for $625. He used handloads of 50gr IMR3031/405 JSP around 1800fps (that is an est.). He also tried Corbon ammo and it held together but kicked like a mad mule. He sold it off when he saw the cost of having it made into a 45-120 and the problems he would have trying to get it to shoot well.

I was doing some looking and I remebered that I saw them in my Shooters Bible. The retail on the 45-70 is $3250.I could only wish I could find one for 625.If it kick like a BMG I'd keep it.All the gun auction sites never have any. It's on the list of guns I always look for. Thanks for the ammo info that will come in handy if I ever get one. ::)Dave.

Whom on earth would buy any gun at retail prices? I don't know where you live but the shows around my area usually have one on a rack. Sometimes I may not see any for a few months then the next time there are a half dozen there. None in LNIB condition ever approach $1000 in price.

I live in Clearfield Co., PA..Grice Gun shop is in Clearfield Co. an is one of the largest in PA. I've never seen one used.If I ever do I'll own it.That list price seem a little high, but thats what it's listed as no way I'd ever pay that.Dave.
