I recently found 2 dealers with what I thought were way to many 788's. They just seemed to be everywhere. Don't get me wrong on the count, one had 3 and one had 7. When you visit gunshops as often and as diverse of locations as I do this, to me at least, was a gold mine of 788's. Unfortunately there were no 44 mags, but...... I can tell you this; common calibers made in numbers i.e. .243 Win, .308 Win etc. were going in the $450 range. Get into the more, what they would call "rare" chamberings or the ones that didnt sell so well, so numbers mfg'ed aren't there, example 7mm/08 and the 30/30Win of which I found 2. One in exc. shape the other so/so. they were both seliing for $600. I'd put your 44mag in that latter catagory. I turned and walked away from that pristine 30/30 by the way. Am I having 2nd thoughts? That shop was a 4 hour ride from home, Hmmmmm!
