hmmm.I saw some 7x57s out there..good choice.I really like that round.
I have many fine choices in me vault. The 1st rifle I bought some years back was a winchester M-70 in 30-06.it has gone with me every time.and will go again this year.it has been kinda tricked out.oem barrel still, as it shoots as good as any custom barrel on the others that I have.now the real problem..what bullet will fly down the barrel that morning if I am lucky to see a deer??150 gr nosler ballistic tips work great.but the barnes triple shocks in 168 gr are pretty cool.then there is those blue X bullets they make that look great and shoot great..and there is a host of others that would be nice to load also.good luck all.and be safe.

If it is nice out I will take my Rem. LH BDL in .308Win. If the weather looks nasty I will take my stainless M-77 in .300Win. Either way I can't wait.

It all depends on what type of terrain one is hunting. Brush, thick growth areas, one would be bettr using a shotgun or brush buster rifle. Open terrain, the higher velocity, longer range rifle.

I start off with the Parker-Hale 25-06. Then I'll switch to a 308. When I want a challenge I'll go to my 22 Hornet for head shots. (smallest caliber you can use in Wis.)

Thompson Contender Pistol with the 14" 30-30 barrel and a Burris 3-12 pistol scope. Light, handy, and thanks to my experiences with IHMSA, effective to 200 yards.
